DETAILS OF THE CASE
According to ST, Sharizal allegedly targeted three boys in a single day on April 18, 2024. The victims include three 14-year-olds and three 15-year-olds.
The offences involve persuading the minors to perform sexual acts via Telegram video calls and recording these acts using his mobile phone.
Details of the case show that Sharizal was present in a Jurong West flat on July 31, 2023, when he allegedly persuaded a 15-year-old boy to perform a sexual act over a video call, which he then recorded. Similar offences were committed again on August 20, 2023, involving a 14-year-old boy, with another incident two days later involving the same victim.
Further allegations state that Sharizal targeted a second 15-year-old boy twice in November 2023, persuading him to perform sexual acts over Telegram calls on November 12 and 17. He is also accused of recording these acts.
On April 18, 2024, Sharizal allegedly targeted a third 15-year-old boy and attempted to procure an obscene act from a second 14-year-old along Jurong West Avenue 1.
Court documents indicate that Sharizal requested a boy’s help to adjust his bra and then touched him in an obscene manner—details that remain undisclosed regarding the reason for him wearing the bra.
Additionally, on the same day, he allegedly molested a third 14-year-old boy at a staircase landing in a Jurong West flat.
The police confirmed that Sharizal was removed from front-line duties before his resignation on June 16, 2024.
A police spokesperson emphasized that officers are expected to uphold high standards of conduct, and those who violate the law are dealt with seriously.
Court proceedings are ongoing, with Sharizal’s case adjourned to August 22.
If convicted of molestation, Sharizal faces up to three years in prison, a fine, caning, or any combination.
For each count of producing sexually explicit videos involving minors, the penalty can extend to 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or caning.
