A seemingly innocent National Day decoration in Pandan Gardens, Jurong has caused unintended outrage among residents due to a minor alteration that resulted in an inappropriate message.

A TikTok video shared on Monday (August 5) featured a display of plastic roses formed into a heart shape with the phrase “SG 59 Porn” accompanied by the caption, “Someone is losing their job.”

This amused many online, prompting some users to inquire about the location of the arrangement after the video was re-shared on reddit.

The TikTok video shared on Monday showcased the display, which inadvertently read “SG 59 PORN” instead of its intended message, “SG 59 PGRN,” representing the Pandan Gardens Residents’ Network.

The decoration, intricately designed with white plastic roses arranged in the shape of a heart, was meant to convey a message of community spirit and national pride.

However, the repositioning of just one white rose transformed the letter “G” into an “O,” sparking reactions from the local community and authorities alike.

The Ayer Rajah Community Club responded promptly to the incident, expressing dismay at what they deemed a “distasteful act.”

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 6, the Friends of Ayer Rajah condemned the vandalism and stated that a police report has been lodged.
