A 34-year-old woman is being looked into by the police for allegedly giving a public servant incorrect information.
According to the press release by Singapore Police Force, at around 10.25 p.m. on March 16, 2023, a woman called the police and allegedly claimed that two unidentified male subjects had robbed her of $6700 in cash near Blk 504 Yishun Street 51.
She allegedly went on to say that the males were carrying knives.
Officers from the Woodlands Police Division discovered through investigations and with the help of photos from police cameras that the women had given the police “incorrect information”.
Investigations by the police into the woman are still ongoing.
Police advised members of public that anyone convicted of giving any information which a person knows to be false to a public servant carries an imprisonment term which may extend to two years or with a fine, or both.
The Police also reminded the public that police resources could be put to better use in dealing with real crimes and emergencies than investigating into false reports or false information.
Those who lodge false Police reports or provide false information will face serious consequences under the law.
