S’pore Man Arrested For Allegedly Transmitting Photos & Videos Of His Private Parts To OnlyFans

Singapore Police has arrested 22 year-old man in realtion to the electronic transmission of obscene materials on an online platform OnlyFans.

OnlyFans is an internet content subscription service based in London. Content creators can earn money from users who subscribe to their content (fans). It allows content creators to receive funding directly from their fans on a monthly basis as well as one-time tips and the pay-per-view feature.

In a press release, SPF said that On 4 September 2021, they received a report informing that the man had allegedly transmitted, by electronic means, obscene materials in the form of images and videos of his private parts via his ‘OnlyFans’ account.

The Police arrested a 22-year-old man on 29 December 2021 for offences under the Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code.

Seized & Warned :

The police said that tOn 11 October 2021, they seized the OnlyFans account 22-year-old man and warned him not to access the account (under Section 39(1)(d)(i) of the Criminal Procedure Code). They also told him breach of the warning would amount to a criminal offence.

Password Reset Despite Warning From Police :

Despite warning, the 22-year-old allegedly wrote in to the administrators of OnlyFans, claiming that his account was not secured, and a password reset was done.

The man subsequently regained access to the account and allegedly continued to electronically transmit more obscene materials using the account and another secondary account, said the police.

The 22 year-old man is believed to be the first OnlyFans content creator here to be prosecuted for transmitting obscene materials on the platform, according to ST.

The man will be charged in court on 30 December 2021.

For allegedly transmitting obscene material electronically via the two ‘OnlyFans’ accounts, the man will be charged with two offences, which carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 months, a fine, or both.

Also for allegedly failing to comply with an order of not to access his ‘OnlyFans’ account, the man will be charged with an offence under Section 39(3)(b) of the Criminal Procedure Code, which carries a fine not exceeding $5,000, an imprisonment term not exceeding six months, or both.

On November 1, the man was served another fresh order not to access both OnlyFans accounts. Police said they are investigating into possible fresh offences, including a further breach of the order which was served on 1 November 2021.

The Police remined the public that it is illegal under to transmit any obscene materials by electronic means. It is also against the law to take part in or receive profits from any business where obscene materials are transmitted by electronic means or advertise the sale of obscene materials.

Police also urged members of the public that they can make a police report if they are aware of persons engaging in such activities.
