Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims Two Lives on North-South Expressway

A devastating motorcycle accident on the North-South Expressway has resulted in the deaths of a man and a Singaporean woman.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:24 PM on Tuesday, December 24, at KM130.1 of the northbound lane, as the victims were traveling from Johor Baru to Kuala Lumpur.

According to The Star, the 28-year-old man, who was riding the motorcycle, is believed to have lost control, leading to the fatal crash into a road divider. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the right lane of the northbound highway, while the 29-year-old woman, who was riding as a pillion, was ejected into the southbound right lane.

Both individuals sustained severe injuries in the crash. The rider suffered major trauma to his head, right arm, and body, while the pillion rider incurred critical head and body injuries and tragically lost her right leg.

“The rider sustained critical head, arm, and torso injuries, while the woman suffered fatal head and body injuries, with her leg severed” the report added.

Emergency responders pronounced both victims dead at the scene, according to report.

The case is currently under investigation.

ACP Raiz Mukhliz has urged motorists to practice caution and adhere to speed limits, especially during the festive season and school holidays when road traffic tends to increase.

Drivers are reminded to prioritize safe and courteous driving to ensure their safety and that of all road users. The tragic loss of these two lives serves as a stark reminder of the dangers on the road and the importance of responsible driving practices.

ANOTHER SINGAPOREAN WOMAN DEAD

In a separate incident, a tragic multi-vehicle collision occurred on the North-South Expressway in Melaka on December 23, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals, including a 66-year-old Singaporean woman named Lamrah Asid Ali.

The crash, which also injured 33 others, involved a lorry that lost a front right tyre, leading to a series of collisions with a tour bus carrying 27 passengers and several other vehicles. The bus driver, 56-year-old Noorisnien Khamid, was also killed in the accident.
