SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) has responded to an Instagram post where the teen was seen lifting off the dog by leash near Sambawang park.
A 9-second video posted by a Instagram account @pekkacoconut shows 15-year old boy lifting the dog by leash from the ground while being walked.
The user posted the video and wrote “Someone please save the poor fur baby from him”, on Instagram. The 15-year-old was also seen running while the dog was still being lifted by leash.

SPCA Responded after the video went viral on Instagram :
The SPCA said “we are aware of the video circulating, it is very dangerous and could endanger the dog’s life and well-being”.
We have escalated the matter to the authorities and we also want to encourage anyone with the information in relation to the location and identity of the person please contact SPCA or email, SPCA added in their Instagram story.

Update On the Incident :
In an update, the Instagram account which originally posted the video said that “We managed to see the boy from the video walking past again with the same dog and We confronted him. He was apparently young and he has apologised for his action as it is his first time owning a dog. Perhaps nobody has taught the teen about how to handle a dog properly”.
We will be letting SPCA know about this so that they can take necessary actions like speaking to the parents.
The account clarified that the dog was in a harness not in collar nevertheless it is still unacceptable, the account added.
