Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 71 suspected drug offenders in an island-wide drug operation from 19 to 23 September 2022.
WEAPONS & DRUGS SEIZED
According to the press release by CNB, controlled drugs of about 158g of heroin, 77g of ‘Ice’, 90g of cannabis, 1g of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), 28 Erimin-5 tablets and 15 bottles of liquid suspected to contain GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) were seized.
These drugs have an estimated street value of about $26,000.
Some of the areas covered during this island-wide operation included Bedok, Kallang and Tampines.
TRIED TO ESCAPE VIA ROOFTOP LIKE SPIDERMAN
In a operation carried out on 20 September, two suspected drug offenders hiding in a shophouse climbed out of a window and onto the roof when CNB officers arrived at their door.
The suspects were seen running along the rooftop of the row of shophouses putting themselves at risk of serious injury, despite officers’ warnings to stop, according to CNB.
One of the suspects was eventually found in a room in one of the shophouses down the row, while the other was found hiding on the rooftop and brought down safely.
Both suspects were arrested.
They were escorted back to the unit, where 12g of ‘Ice’ and offensive weapons such as batons, samurai swords and knives were found.
They received outpatient treatment for abrasions and cuts.
Investigations indicate that they had consumed ‘Ice’, and they were referred to the Drug Rehabilitation Centre.
This operation was part of a larger island-wide drug operation conducted between 19 to 23 September 2022, where a total of 71 suspected drug offenders were arrested.
Superintendent Lee Pin How, Commanding Officer of Enforcement ‘F’ and ‘L’ Division, said of the island-wide operation:
“Drugs have no place in our society – they have a devastating impact on individuals, families and communities. While under the influence of drugs, abusers put themselves and others around them at risk. Despite the danger that my officers face on the job, they remain dedicated to keeping drugs off our streets and our community, especially the young and vulnerable from the menace of drugs.”
Investigations into all arrested suspects are ongoing.
