Thailand government is worried and thinking of tightening anti-covid measures on Valentines day after a rapid increase in new covid-19 infections. The country has registered more than 15,000 new cases as on Friday according to the Health Ministry of Thailand.
Reason Behind Free Condom Distribution :
According to BP, Prime Minister Of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha had called for meeting to consider tougher measures to curb the spread of the virus on Valentine’s Day and during the Songkran holiday period (Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival).
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is also handing out 2 million free condoms in a campaign for safe sex ahead of Valentine’s Day, with sexually transmitted infections on the rise among the young, Bangkok Post reported.
The director of the BMA’s health department, said on that the condoms would be available for free in all 50 districts of the capital under City Hall’s “Start Safe S*x, Use Condom” campaign. Last year there were 6,450 cases of sexually transmitted diseases recorded in Bangkok, and the number was rising each year, the director said.
DPM & Health minister of Thailand said that “those planning to have s*x on Valentine’s Day get tested for Covid-19 using a rapid antigen test kit before making love”.
