Few day ago the police had confirmed that they have arrested arrested a 48-year-old man for his suspected involvement in the death of his two 11-year-old sons.
Xavier Yap Jung Houn, 48, the father 11-year-old twin boys who were found dead in a canal in Upper Bukit Timah has been remanded for psychiatric observation at the Changi Prison Complex Medical Centre Today reported.
The father was charged last week with the murder of Ethan Yap E Chern, as per the reports.
He is accused of murdering son Ethan at a canal at the Greenridge Crescent playground on Jan 21.
The boys are believed to have had special needs and attended a school in the Eng Kong estate area.
The father was accompanied by a group of police officers when he was taken to the crime scene at around 3pm last Thursday. Mr Yap was scheduled to reappear in court on Monday (Jan 31), but his case was brought forward to Jan 29, as reported by Today Online.
There were no charges tendered against him for the death of his other son, who has been identified by ST as Aston Yap Kai Shern.
Under the penal code, the offence of murder carries the death penalty.
Also, the court documents did not specify whether any weapon was allegedly used, according to the media reports.
This case will be heard again on Feb 18.
