The Most awaited good news for both countries because many Malaysians stuck in Singapore can re-unite with their families after so many months.
In a Facebook post Prime Minister Lee announced that Singapore & Malaysia will launch Cross-border air travel through the Vaccinated Lane Travel (VTL).
From 29 November 2021 :
Prime Minister Lee wrote “Singapore and Malaysia are finally able to restart cross-border air travel through the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). Spoke to PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob on the phone today on the launch of the VTL between Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport from 29 November 2021”.
“Singapore and Malaysia have made good progress vaccinating our populations and managing the pandemic. So we agreed that it is timely to progressively resume cross-border travel between both countries. This will help revive our economies, restore people-to-people ties, and strengthen our bilateral partnership”, PM Lee added.
Quarantine Free : Vaccinated travelers between both countries will be able to travel without quarantine. Travelers transiting through Singapore and onto a VTL country, will be required to take a PCR test 48 hours prior to their flight departure to Singapore.
Travel Advisory : Travelers entering or transiting through Singapore, including Singapore citizens and permanent residents, are required to take a pre-departure Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test within 48 hours before the scheduled departure date of their flight (i.e. passengers departing on 3 September can take the test any time from 1 September onwards). For passengers entering Singapore via the Reciprocal Green Lane arrangements, the pre-departure test can be taken within 72 hours before the scheduled departure date of their flight.
Only Air Travel :
The reopening includes only air travel as of now, both countries discussing about the re-opening across the causeway and the second link.
Many people from both the countries expressed their joy upon hearing the news and thanked PM Lee for the announcement.
