Student Arrested After Penknife Attack on Teacher at Bartley Secondary School

A student from Bartley Secondary School was arrested on Monday, April 28, after injuring a teacher with a penknife.

According to CNA, the school stated on Tuesday that the injured teacher was taken to hospital where he received outpatient treatment.

According to the report, the student was arrested for allegedly injuring a teacher by “cutting”. The exact motive behind the act remains unclear at this time.

“He has been given medical leave and is recovering well at home,” said the school’s principal, Britta Seet. She also confirmed that a police report was filed regarding the incident.

“The student is assisting with investigation and has not returned to school,” added Ms. Seet.

The police confirmed that a report was lodged in connection with the incident, and that a student was subsequently arrested.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told CNA that it received a call for assistance at about 12.25pm on Monday, and that one person was transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

“We are in touch with the student and the student’s parents, and will continue to provide support to the student and affected staff,” said the school’s principal.
