A recent study conducted by the Singapore Management University and the Institute of Policy Studies has revealed the must-haves for living in city-state of Singapore.
According to one of the university survey, which included input from 4,000 individuals says majority of Singaporeans consider owning a smartphone, dining out regularly, and having air-conditioning as essential for daily life.
Among the findings, 64% of participants stated that air-conditioning was a basic necessity, while 62% felt the need to dine out at least once a month.
Additionally, more than half of those surveyed believed that taking a vacation to a Southeast Asian country annually was crucial. The study also showed that 96% considered owning a home as a fundamental requirement.
The survey revealed that two-thirds of respondents expected the government to provide basic necessities for those who cannot afford them. More than half believed that the authorities should assist residents with healthcare, childcare, and public transport expenses.
Nearly 88% of those surveyed deemed regular preventive health screening as essential.
Overall, the study sheds light on the key priorities and needs of Singaporeans living in the tropical, humid, and expensive city-state.
