A 19-year-old teenager, who cannot be named as he was below 18 years old when some of the offenses were allegedly committed, was hauled to a district court on March 5 for charges including performing an obscene act on a cat.
The teenager was captured on video allegedly performing the obscene act outside an HDB flat in Senja Road. The incident took place on April 8, 2023, and a 56-second clip of the footage went viral after being captured by a nearby camera.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals reported the incident to the authorities after being alerted to the video by a concerned member of the public. The case has sparked outrage and calls for justice for the vulnerable animal involved.
In addition to the charge of performing an obscene act in public, the teenager is also facing charges of harassment, assault, and theft.
