A 31-year-old man has been detained by the police on suspicion of taking part in an armed robbery.
At around 1.50 am on February 1, 2023, the Pasir Ris Street 11 minimart was the scene of an armed robbery. Initial investigations revealed that the man, who was allegedly carrying a knife, demanded money from the cash register from the victim in order to rob him. There were no reported injuries, according to the police press release.
ARRESTED IN 18 HOURS
“Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV images, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 18 hours of the report”, the police added.
Cash amounting to $276, a knife, clothes and belongings were seized.
The man will be charged in court on 3 February 2023 with the offence of armed robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code 1871, the police said.
The offence carries an imprisonment term of between three to 14 years, and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
