A former preschool teacher who was previously charged with abusing a 23-month-old girl has now been accused of ill-treating three other children at a Kinderland preschool.
Lin Min, 34, received five new charges on Wednesday (Feb 28), including three counts of ill-treating a child and two counts of using criminal force.
The alleged incidents took place between May and July of last year.
One of the charges states that Lin forced a three-year-old boy to lie down in a rough manner and used criminal force on him by tipping a milk bottle into his mouth while he was on the floor. She is also accused of ill-treating a three-year-old girl by restraining her to a chair and pouring water into her mouth, and of using criminal force on a two-year-old boy by hitting his buttocks with a book, as per the reports.
After footage of the alleged abuse went viral, some parents withdrew their children from the preschool and Lin was barred from working in the preschool sector.
Lin’s defense lawyer requested an adjournment to take instructions on the new charges, as well as a postponement of her pre-trial conference scheduled for Mar 1. She is currently out on bail of S$15,000.
If convicted of ill-treating a child, Lin could face up to eight years in jail, a fine of up to S$8,000, or both. If convicted of using criminal force, she could be jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$1,500, or both.
