Last week, a McDonald’s outlet in Yishun was at the center of a bomb hoax that triggered a police investigation.
According to Shin Min Daily News, a food delivery worker noticed police presence when he picked up an order from the outlet on Thursday. The man, Mr. Zhuo, aged 40, said the officers appeared to be looking for something, and customers were not permitted to dine at the outlet and could only order takeaways. When he inquired about the incident, McDonald’s employees refused to divulge any information.
On Thursday at 10:25 pm, the police received a bomb threat alert at Block 846 Yishun Ring Road, which led to the investigation of a possible bomb hoax at the McDonald’s outlet. However, no “threat items” were found after completing security checks.
The police take all security threats seriously and will investigate anyone who intentionally causes public alarm. They are treating this incident as a case of communicating false information about something harmful and have already begun their investigations.
Those who communicate false information about a bomb threat may face severe consequences, including up to seven years of imprisonment, a fine of up to $50,000, or both. The police urge the public to take such threats seriously and report them immediately instead of spreading rumors or false information.
