Enraged by news of a youth harassing his female friend, a 17-year-old male rounded up four friends to confront the offender. They proceeded to physically assault him and humiliate him by forcing him to strip naked, drink urine, and brandishing a weapon as a threat.
The offender, now 18, was sentenced to two years’ probation with strict conditions, including one year at Singapore Boys’ Hostel and 100 hours of community service. He had pleaded guilty to charges of rioting with a deadly weapon and criminal intimidation, with another charge of fighting in a public place taken into consideration during sentencing.
The identities of the individuals involved cannot be disclosed as they were under the age of 18 at the time of the incidents.
According to the Straits Times report, A1, who turned 18 in September 2023, admitted guilt in April to charges of criminal intimidation and being part of an illegal assembly.
He committed these crimes alongside four other individuals – known as B1, B2, B3, and B4 in court records – who were his friends and were aged between 15 and 17 during the incidents in March 2023. The identities of all six boys have been withheld in the court documents.

According to TODAY, the offender gathered with four male acquaintances in March 2023 and informed them of his intention to physically attack the victim, citing harassment of his female friend as the reason.
The teenager lured the victim, who was 16 at the time, to a multi-storey carpark toilet in Bukit Batok on March 20 for sex through his female friend’s Instagram account. The victim agreed to meet at the location. When the victim knocked on the toilet door, the offender opened it and pulled him inside, while his four friends followed closely behind.
The offender threatened the victim with a parang by placing it on his neck, forcing him to strip naked under the threat of being slashed.
“The victim obeyed as he was scared,” stated Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Pavithra Ramkumar according to TODAY.
The victim complied out of fear as the offender smoked, and then physically assaulted him, making him apologize to his friend. The victim was then forced to drink a bottle filled with urine from two of the offender’s friends, and was further assaulted by one of them.
TODAY reports, as the victim stripped at the offender’s command, he was forced to look at the phone camera while the offender recorded a video. After being ordered to kneel, the victim was punched multiple times on the face, causing his eyes to swell. He was then made to apologize to the girl while naked and kneeling, while the offender recorded another video.
The offender then struck the victim’s face with the flat side of a parang and forced the tip into his mouth, all while berating him for “harassing” the girl. The victim was also made to drink urine from a bottle, with the offender filming the act to show to his female friend.

Throughout the ordeal, the offender and his friends filmed the victim.
In previous hearings reported by ST, Deputy Public Prosecutor Pavithra Ramkumar stated: “A1 recorded the victim consuming urine with the intention of sharing the video with his female friend to harm the victim’s reputation.”
As per court records, B1 physically assaulted the victim by punching and kicking him multiple times, following which A1 instructed the victim to dress himself. Once the group of six boys exited the restroom, A1 threatened the victim with further violence if he contacted the authorities. A1 subsequently shared the videos with a female acquaintance.
After forcing the victim to wear his clothes, the offender allowed him to leave but warned him against reporting the incident to the police. The victim returned home around 9:20pm, where his injuries were noticed by his father, who then took him to National University Hospital the following day to make a police report.
The offender was identified and arrested on March 22.
Two of the offender’s friends involved in the incident have been placed on probation, while the cases for the other two are still pending.
In addition to the probation, the offender’s mother must post a S$5,000 good behavior bond on her son’s behalf.

After being discharged from the hostel, the teen must attend a violence prevention program for four months. During the court hearing, the judge advised the offender’s mother to offer her son plenty of encouragement and support during his sentence.
According to ST, the 18-year-old offender is required to spend a year at the Singapore Boys’ Hostel and complete 100 hours of community service as part of his sentence.
The teen could have faced up to 10 years in jail and caning for rioting with a deadly weapon, and up to two years in jail, a fine, or both for criminal intimidation.
