Four male teens, aged 15 to 18, have been detained by the police for their alleged involvement in an assault case.
According to police press release, on 28 November 2022 at about 1.40am, the Police were alerted to a case of assault along Esplanade Drive.
Assaulted For Staring
Preliminary investigations revealed that two male victims, aged 27 and 31, were allegedly assaulted by a group of teenagers over a staring incident, the police said in press release.
The victims suffered multiple injuries and were conveyed conscious to the hospital.
Posted On Social Media
One of the teenagers was found to have posted a photo of a victim lying on the ground after the assault, on his social media account, the police added.
Four Teens To Be Charged
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the four teenagers and arrested them within 16 hours of the report.
The four teenagers will be charged in court on 30 November 2022 with voluntarily causing hurt with common intention under Section 323 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871.
The offence of voluntarily causing hurt carries a fine not exceeding $5,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, or both.
The Police also reminded members of public that they take a zero-tolerance approach towards acts of violence and will take firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
