In a tragic incident that occurred on Sunday (25 June) morning, a car collided with a power-assisted bicycle in Yishun, resulting in the death of a 59-year-old cyclist.
The 43-year-old male driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. The accident took place at approximately 10:08 am on Yishun Avenue 9, according to the police who responded to queries regarding the incident. Details from the Chinese daily Shin Min indicate that the car’s front end sustained dents, and the windshield displayed cracks.
Emergency medical services from the Singapore Civil Defence Force promptly arrived at the scene and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the unconscious e-biker for a duration of 15 minutes. Despite their efforts, the e-biker was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Currently, the police are conducting investigations into the incident, and further details surrounding the circumstances leading up to the collision are awaited.
