Moreover, five bottles of methadone were also found in the operation.
Notably, a 15-year-old student was among those arrested for suspected drug abuse.
CNB’s operation covered several regions, including Bukit Timah, Ghim Moh, Hougang, Jurong, Marsiling, Mountbatten, and Tampines.
- Significant arrests during the operation included a 45-year-old Singaporean man detained on August 13 with significant quantities of illicit substances, including 371 grams of Ice and 124 grams of cannabis.
- One of the most impactful arrests occurred on August 14, when a 67-year-old Singaporean man was apprehended with approximately 9.5 kg of heroin—the largest single seizure of heroin in 2024. This case alone is estimated to carry a street value of around $1.4 million.
On August 19, a 15-year-old Singaporean boy was arrested with a small amount of Ice, leading to the discovery of yet another 15-year-old boy believed to be involved in drug trafficking, CNB said in release.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Saherly Bin Limat, the Director of Enforcement, addressed the seriousness of the situation.
“This island-wide operation saw the arrest of a 15-year-old suspected drug trafficker. This is a stark reminder to all, that we must not lower our attention on the teenage drug situation” he stated.
“We must continue to engage our youths on the topic of drugs and the harm drugs can cause. Parents have a key role to play in preventive drug education, lest they end up getting information via dubious channels and start sliding down the slippery slope of drugs. CNB has preventive drug education information online which parents can utilise to start their conversation with their children. The time to start engaging them is now, not later, he added”.
Investigations into all individuals apprehended during the operation are still ongoing, CNB added in its press release.
