Kathmandu, Nepal – Search and rescue operations are currently in progress for 76-year-old Harry Tan, a Singaporean who has gone missing near the Kongma La Pass trekking trail in the Everest region of Nepal.
The 76-year-old identified as Mr. Tan, who is believed to have disappeared while trekking in one of the world’s most challenging environments.
In the wake of Mr. Tan’s disappearance, many Singaporeans have taken to social media to express their heartfelt wishes for his safe return.
Mr. Tan is known to be a lecturer in the Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) department at the National Institute of Education (NIE).

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Singapore, they are closely coordinating with Mr. Tan’s family and local authorities in Nepal through the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi, CNA reported.
The MFA has confirmed that search and rescue operations are actively ongoing.
Member of Parliament (MP) Wan Rizal shared on Facebook on Friday (Sep 27) night that he was praying for Mr. Tan’s safety while he is trekking at Nepal’s Everest Base Camp.
“May he be safe and sound, and may the search and rescue efforts be swift and successful,” he stated.
“Let’s keep him in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.”

As reported by the travel blog Halfway Anywhere, the pass is recognized as the most challenging section of Nepal’s Three Passes Trek, reaching an altitude of 5,550 meters and spanning a distance of 10.62 kilometers.
