A Singaporean man, Davis Khor Khai Gin, has been sentenced to 12 and a half years in jail and 13 strokes of the cane for sexually abusing young girls.
According to The Straits Times report, Khor randomly contacted girls aged between 13 and 17 on Instagram, offering them cash or jobs to visit his home where he would sexually assault them.
He enticed at least four girls between August 2020 and February 2021, performing sexual acts on three of them.
One girl managed to escape this trap.
Khor, a senior aircraft engineer, pleaded guilty to four charges, including attempted statutory rape, sexual penetration, and grooming. Another six similar charges were taken into consideration during sentencing.
He used the same method to lure his victims, offering them cash or a job, with the highest paying job involving him touching their body for $200.
THREE VICTIMS : V1-V2-V3
According to the Straits Times report, Khor used the same tactic with each victim, offering cash or a job and then violating them with a sex aid while recording the acts. Khor’s first victim, a 13-year-old girl identified as V1, was offered $200 to let him touch her body. She agreed, and Khor booked a Grab ride to pick her up the next day.
After he violated her, Khor passed her the money, asked her to delete their Instagram chat, and warned her not to tell anyone about their encounter. Khor then continued to message V1 with offers of cash to visit his place again.
The report added that Khor used a similar tactic to ensnare his second victim, a 15-year-old girl identified as V2, in August 2020. He offered her $200 for a job that included cuddling and being his companion for two hours. After violating her with a sex aid and recording the acts, Khor tried to have sex with her, but she told him to stop. Khor then gave her $100 instead of $200, saying that the session was not complete.
As for his third victim, a 14-year-old girl identified as V3, Khor persistently messaged her, asking if she was interested in a part-time job. He offered her several options, including waitressing and working as a kitchen helper, but told her that the highest-paying job involved him touching her body for $200.
Although V3 told him that she was only 14 years old and was only interested in the waitressing job, Khor kept persuading her to meet him. When she arrived at his flat, Khor put his arm on her waist, but she insisted that she wanted to leave. Khor let her leave after handing her $30.
The Straits Times report indicated that Deputy Public Prosecutor Edwin Soh had sought 13 to 16 years’ jail and 13 strokes of the cane, while defence counsel Favian Kang had asked for not more than 13¼ years’ jail. The report also mentioned that in mitigation, Mr Kang submitted a letter from Khor’s former wife, pleading for leniency.
