A heartwarming love story has taken TikTok by storm as Malaysian couple Rokiah Samat, 62, and Muhamad Amin Jumdail, 28, went viral after sharing their romantic journey. Despite the significant 35-year age gap, their unconventional union has captured the attention and admiration of viewers worldwide.
Rokiah, a Kelantanese grandmother, and Muhamad Amin, also known as Adam, from Semporna, first connected on TikTok in 2021.
According to reports, initially friends, their bond grew stronger, and Adam began developing romantic feelings for Rokiah. Expressing his belief that she was destined to be his “jodoh” (soulmate) as intended by Allah, Adam was determined to pursue their connection.
Overcoming the challenge of a long-distance relationship, the couple maintained daily communication through text messages and video calls. Adam eventually made the decision to meet Rokiah in person, working as a masseuse in Johor to save money for the journey. Finally, they had their first meeting in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, further solidifying their connection.
As per the Malaysian media reports, Madam Rokiah expressed her confidence in her younger husband’s ability to care for her throughout their lives, stating, “Despite the age difference, I believe my husband will be there for me until the end, and I hope this will be my final marriage.”
Having experienced two previous marriages, Madam Rokiah’s first union, which began in 1977, lasted for four decades before the couple decided to part ways six years ago. Following that, she entered into her second marriage with a Myanmar national in 2018, but unfortunately, it endured only for two years.
Explaining the reason for the second divorce, Madam Rokiah cited the challenges of maintaining a long-distance relationship with her former spouse, who was working in China at that time.
The couple’s families showed acceptance and support for their relationship, despite societal expectations. Sharing a passion for gardening and fishing, Rokiah and Adam became engaged in June 2022 and tied the knot in September of the same year.
Rokiah, a housewife with 11 children, 22 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, expressed her youthful spirit at the age of 62, stating that she feels like she’s 40. She fell for Adam due to his qualities of being a responsible, patient, and caring man.
Adam, equally smitten by Rokiah, emphasized that his intentions for marrying her are genuine and that he is grateful to have her as his wife. He appreciates her caring nature and describes her as the perfect partner in every way. Adam also noted Rokiah’s culinary skills, with his favorite dish being her fish head curry.
Despite the significant age difference, Rokiah and Adam have found happiness and peace in their life together. Their love story serves as a reminder that true love knows no boundaries and can transcend societal norms.
