A 20-year-old man, Kieron Ng Kay Lin, has pleaded guilty to molesting three primary school girls aged 11 to 14, revealing that he has a specific fetish for “anime girls mostly in uniform attire.”
Ng admitted to one charge of outrage of modesty in connection to an 11-year-old victim, while charges pertaining to two other victims, aged 12 and 14, as well as a separate count under the Protection from Harassment Act, will be considered at sentencing.
According to the prosecution, this is not an isolated incident.
“Two digits but below 60”
The Straits Times reported that Ng acknowledged that he had repeatedly engaged in inappropriate behavior since 2021 and estimated that he had touched various young girls’ legs, stating, “two digits but below 60.”
According to a report from the Institute of Mental Health, Ng admitted to having repeatedly committed acts of molestation since 2021.
When questioned about the number of girls he had touched, he stated, “Two digits but below 60.”
Most of the victims were under the age of 16, and many were in school uniforms.
Ng was first arrested for the molestation of a 12-year-old girl in May 2023 but was released on bail. However, he continued to offend, leading to his second arrest in July and a third arrest in August following another incident.
“Gaint game”
The deputy public prosecutor, Andre Chong, detailed how Ng approached the 11-year-old victim in August 2023 while she was walking home after school. He convinced her to assist him with a “school project,” which included a game he devised called the “giant game.”
After leading her to a staircase landing, Ng scattered pieces of paper on the floor and instructed her to act as if she were a giant navigating the “cities” represented by the paper.
Allegedly, while the victim was seated, Ng positioned himself below her and proceeded to stroke her legs for at least a minute, the report added
Despite her discomfort and requests for him to stop, he continued until she indicated a need to leave for homework. The victim returned home in tears and informed her mother, prompting a police report that led to Ng’s swift arrest.
In an interview with a doctor from the Institute of Mental Health following his arrest, Ng confessed to consuming pornography featuring “anime girls mostly in uniform attire, and (who) are giants.”
Ng expressed a specific sexual attraction to “straight and thin” legs, the report added.
DPP Chong noted, “When he stroked the victim’s legs, he was ‘acting out his anime fantasy life, turning fantasy into reality.’”
Despite Ng’s awareness of his actions and the counseling from his parents—who were unable to prevent their son’s repeated offenses—his behavior escalated during his bail periods, leading to growing concerns from prosecutors.
According to ST, DPP Chong stated that the accused’s father acknowledged that he had repeatedly advised his son against participating in the giant game, warning him that it could lead to trouble, but his warnings were ineffective.
In a plea for leniency, defense lawyer Gopal Perumal argued that Ng has no prior criminal record and has been forthcoming about his actions, receiving full support from his family.
Deputy Principal District Judge Kessler Soh has requested reports on probation and reformative training suitability and has adjourned the case to November for further proceedings.
