A 57-year-old man, Cheng Choong Peng, was sentenced to three weeks’ jail after pleading guilty to a charge of public nuisance related to an incident on a train.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CASE :
- Cheng flicked bodily fluid onto a woman’s pants on an MRT train after performing a sex act in frustration.
- He was arrested, pleaded guilty to public nuisance, and received a sentence of three weeks’ jail.
- The incident caused shock and disgust, leading to police investigation and analysis of the bodily fluid.
The incident occurred on February 5 at Jurong East MRT station, where Cheng boarded the same train as the victim and committed an offensive act that shocked and disgusted her.
According to Straits Times, Cheng stood behind the woman during the train ride.
While on the train, he thought about his unsatisfactory sexual relationship with his wife, who would often tell him she was tired whenever he sought intimacy.
Feeling sexually frustrated, Cheng decided to perform a sex act on himself. He unzipped his pants and touched himself.
Afterward, he saw some of his bodily fluid on the floor and his hands. Cheng flicked his bodily fluid off his hand onto her pants.
Cheng noticed that the bodily fluid had landed on the woman’s clothing but did not inform her, fearing she would call the police, the report added.
The woman only discovered her pants were stained upon alighting at Outram Park MRT station. She suspected the stain came from the man standing behind her and lodged a police report. She was reportedly shocked, at a loss, and felt insulted and disgusted by Cheng’s actions.
Police investigations led to the collection of swabs from the stains on her pants, which were sent to the Health Sciences Authority for analysis. Cheng was arrested on May 20.
In court, Cheng pleaded guilty to the charge of public nuisance.
Under Singapore law, those convicted of public nuisance, knowing their acts would cause annoyance to the public, can face up to three months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $2,000, or both.
