A seven-year-old girl lost her life following an accident involving a van early on August 15.
SCDF said they were alerted to the scene at approximately 6:20 AM, located at 23 Fernvale Lane, the address of The Topiary, an executive condominium development near Seletar Mall.
According to the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the young girl was found unconscious and was immediately transported to Sengkang General Hospital.
Despite the urgent medical attention, she later succumbed to her injuries.
According to Shin Min, reader told that a female student was hit by a school bus and was rushed to the hospital.
“The female student was standing in the parking lot in front of Apartment 23 waiting for the school bus before the accident”.
“After entering the apartment through the main gate, the school bus will circle the apartment and pass through the parking lot”.
“The deceased’s brother told reporters that the school bus that hit his sister was not the one she was waiting for. The school bus she was going to take was following behind the school bus that caused the accident”, according to Shin.
“He added that out that at the same time in the morning, there were several school buses picking up students at the location, and his sister was also waiting for a school bus in the parking lot, but unexpectedly she was hit by a school bus.
“I heard that the school bus driver was looking at the left mirror at the time and didn’t see my sister standing in front of him. He didn’t stop until he realized he had hit something.”
“He also said that his sister died in the hospital after being sent there, and the family would go to the hospital to handle the formalities later”.
She was a Primary 1 student, the report said.
The driver of the van, a 67-year-old male, has been arrested for careless driving causing death.
Investigation into the incident are ongoing.
