A stabbing incident in the heart of Brussels has left a 25-year-old student of Singaporean descent dead, following an altercation late Wednesday night.
The public prosecutor’s office stated that the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Sint-Pietersstraat.
Upon arrival, police officers discovered the victim suffering from a severe stab wound to the abdomen.
First responders administered immediate first aid while the emergency medical team was dispatched.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.Initial investigations suggest that the victim had spent the evening socializing with two other students before the incident.
According to sources, the trio faced harassment from two individuals, prompting them to relocate to Sint-Pietersstraat.
It was there that the victim was isolated and subsequently approached again by the same two suspects.
One suspect brandished a knife, resulting in the fatal stabbing of the Singaporean student.
Law enforcement rapidly identified and apprehended two suspects, both aged 18.
Searches of their residences were conducted early Thursday morning, leading to their detention.
The public prosecutor’s office has indicated that further details will be withheld for the time being to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued any statement regarding the incident yet.
