In a heart-wrenching incident, a man has been charged with a rash act that led to the untimely death of his son. Muhammad Amir Kader, 37, allegedly forced the tip of a chili into his son’s mouth while the child was lying on the floor.
The distressing incident occurred on August 2, 2022, at a residence in Block 327C Anchorvale Road. The 37-year-old father was handed one count of a rash act not amounting to culpable homicide, according to CNA.
The Tragic Event:
According to the charge sheet, the incident unfolded around 1:30 pm when Muhammad Amir’s son, Muhammad Ariq Raziqin Muhammad Amir, was lying on the floor. Allegedly, Muhammad Amir used his right hand to forcefully insert the tip of a chili into his son’s mouth. This act tragically blocked the child’s airway, leading to his untimely demise. The age of the victim was not specified in the charge sheet, leaving the details surrounding the incident relatively limited.
Legal Proceedings and Gag Order:
Muhammad Amir Kader has been charged with one count of a rash act not amounting to culpable homicide. During the court hearing, the prosecution did not seek a gag order, as they believed there was no one else to protect. However, in response, Muhammad Amir expressed concern for his other children. The prosecution assured that no harm would be caused to the other children, and as a result, a gag order was not pursued.
Bail and Potential Consequences:
Following the proceedings, Muhammad Amir was offered bail in the amount of S$20,000, allowing him temporary release until the next court session.
