A 38-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly shooting another man with an airsoft gun in Tampines, leaving the victim with injuries to his ear and forehead. Police also uncovered a large cache of weapons and prohibited items during a search of the suspect’s home.
The incident occurred on June 29, 2026, at about 7.36pm, when police received a call for assistance at Tampines Street 81. Preliminary investigations found that the 37-year-old victim had been struck by projectiles fired from an airsoft gun, sustaining injuries to his ear and forehead.
Officers from the Bedok Police Division launched follow-up investigations, using police camera footage and closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings to identify the suspected shooter. The man was arrested later the same day.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residential unit led officers to discover what police described as a substantial cache of weapons and prohibited items. The seized items included several airsoft guns and ammunition, a knuckle duster, a suspected stun device, and an assortment of airsoft gun parts.
The suspect is scheduled to be charged in court on July 1, 2026, with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means under Section 324 of the Penal Code 1871.
If convicted, he faces a prison term of up to seven years, and may also receive caning or a fine.
Police said the man could also face additional charges under the Guns, Explosives and Weapons Control Act 2021 and the Penal Code, following the seizure of the prohibited items from his unit.
In a statement, the Singapore Police Force reiterated its firm stance against violent crime, warning that it has “zero tolerance towards such acts of violence in the community” and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
