A 34-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly molesting two girls, including his 17-year-old stepdaughter, in separate incidents that took place within hours of each other on Aug 12.
According to The Straits Times, both alleged incidents happened on the same day. The police said the man was arrested later that day with the help of images from police cameras.
The first incident occurred at about 8.55am, when the man allegedly offered to take a 12-year-old girl to school.
He then allegedly brought her to a staircase near Sembawang Crescent, where he molested her, according to the police.
About four hours later, at around 12.50pm, the man allegedly touched his 17-year-old stepdaughter at her home near Yishun Street 22.
The man is set to be charged in court on Aug 14 with two counts of outrage of modesty.
For the alleged offence involving the 12-year-old girl, he will be charged with outrage of modesty involving a person below 14. The offence carries a jail term of up to five years, a fine, caning, or any combination of these punishments.
For the alleged offence involving his stepdaughter, he will face a charge of aggravated outrage of modesty involving a victim in a close relationship. The offence carries a jail term of between two and 10 years, as well as caning.
Police said the man may face enhanced punishment because the alleged offence was committed against a victim in a close relationship.
