The teenager, now 18, involved in a motorcycle chase that resulted in the death of a Land Transport Authority (LTA) officer is preparing to plead guilty to multiple charges. The young man has been in remand since early June following the tragic incident, which has since garnered significant media attention.
Under the Children and Young Persons Act, the teenager’s identity remains protected, as he was 17 at the time of the offenses.
According to CNA report, during a pre-trial conference on Monday morning, September 9, the teenager indicated he would accept a plea deal offered by the prosecution.
This decision comes after he retained the services of lawyer Mr. Foo Ho Chew from H C Law Practice.
The court date for the plea is set for October 22, where he will appear before Deputy Principal District Judge Kessler Soh.
In his first appearance at the court when questioned if he had anything to say, the teenager stated, “I gambled my life as much as he gambled his. So the death … I may be one of the contributing factors to the death, but I am not to be blamed.”
