UPDATE : A 65-year-old man has been arrested and to be charged with murder after an argument with his 43-year-old neighbour turned deadly. The incident occurred on Jan 6 in Bukit Batok, leading to the tragic death of the woman and injuries to her five-year-old son. A knife has been seized according to the reports.
A shocking incident unfolded in a Bukit Batok Housing Board block this morning, leading to the arrest of a man after a woman was discovered deceased. Additionally, a child was injured during the tragic incident.
Authorities responded swiftly to the scene, as at least four police vehicles, including a Crime Scene Investigation van, were observed at the foot of Block 460B along Bukit Batok West Avenue 9 by The Straits Times at around 11am.
To ensure the preservation of the crime scene, both uniformed and plainclothes police officers had cordoned off the corridor leading to the second-floor unit.
A man, dressed in full white protective gear, was later escorted to a police car around 11.30am, indicating his involvement in the ongoing investigation. The authorities cordoned off the vicinity of the housing block, including the void deck and public walkway, using police tape.
Seeking immediate intervention, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a distress call at approximately 8.25am. Tragically, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was promptly conveyed to the National University Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Investigators have yet to release details regarding the nature of the incident, the relationship between the arrested man, the deceased woman, and the injured child, as well as the possible motives.
