Singaporean student aged 24, who rented 37-year-old woman as a date from “maybe.sg” was sentenced to eight months jail.

- Cheong Jia Jin, 24 an ITE Student used rear naked choke on 37-year-old woman at Terminal 4 of Changi Airport staircase when no one was around, told her he wanted to film TikTok video with her.
- Both met via “maybe.sg”, which is a Singapore’s “Rent a Date” platform.
- Cheong had a foot fetish & he choked the woman until she fainted so that he can smell her foot.
- The part of assault was captured on the video and it was played during court session.
- Cheong was sentenced to 8 months’ jail on 5 January.
How They Met & When ?
According to the reports from Yahoo News, In October 2020 Cheong Jia Jin booked a date via dating platform, “maybe.sg”. Later he contacted her via Instagram and they met on 26 Oct, initially they went to explore Changi Jurassic Mile for an hour.
TikTok Video :
After they explored Changi Jurassic Mile Cheong told the 37-year-old date (victim) he wanted to film TikTok with her and took her to the staircase landing at Terminal 4 of Changi Airport.
Foot Fetish :
Cheong took her to the staircase while climbing he made sure no one is around, he even opened doors at each level. As they reached level 4, he placed his mobile to record and then he decided to choke the woman until she fainted so that he could smell the victim’s feet, according to the report.
He choked the victim using a move he had learnt from a martial arts course, he filmed the incident as she struggled and considered molesting her, Yahoo News reported.
After the woman fainted, Cheong laid her on the ground and wanted to touch her breasts. However he only lifted her shirt to her belly button.
A few seconds later, the woman regained consciousness and found out that her head was on Cheong’s lap. Immediately she collected her belongings and ran down the staircase.
She then ran towards a car and sought help from a driver, saying that someone was trying to kill her. The driver advised her to make a police report and she did.
The woman was sent to Changi General Hospital and was found with a bruise around her neck area and knee.
In Cheong’s defense his lawyer Cory Wong said that his client did not premeditate the offences. The lawyer said Cheong did not wanted his TikTok video interrupted, so that is the reason he had checked the staircase landing for other people.
Sentencing :
The 24-year-old Cheong pleaded guilty to a single charge of voluntarily causing hurt and was jailed for eight months on Wednesday (Jan 5). One more charge of attempted outrage of modesty was taken into consideration during sentencing.
