A 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital after falling from a roof catwalk at Our Tampines Hub, allegedly after entering a restricted area with two other teenagers.
The incident occurred at around 11.15pm on Sept 11, resulting in damage to the ceiling of the facility’s Team Sport Hall.
In a joint response to Stomp on Sept 30, Sport Singapore (SportSG) and the People’s Association (PA) said preliminary investigations found that three male individuals had allegedly entered a restricted roof access area.
The trio allegedly gained access by climbing over a low concrete wall before breaching a safety barrier mesh fence.
One of them subsequently fell from the roof catwalk, damaging the sports hall ceiling.
An ambulance was called, and the 15-year-old was conveyed to hospital while conscious. SportSG said he has since been discharged.
Three Teenagers Assisting Police Investigations
The incident was referred to the police.
Police told that three boys, aged between 15 and 18, are assisting with investigations into an alleged offence of wilful trespass.
Investigations are ongoing.
Floorball Matches Postponed Following Hall Closure
The incident also disrupted the Singapore Floorball League Premier League season, with matches postponed while repair works were carried out.
On Sept 12, the league announced that matches scheduled for Sept 12 and 13 had been postponed due to the Team Sport Hall’s closure.
Fixtures scheduled for Sept 19, 20, 26 and 27 were subsequently postponed as well.
SportSG and PA said the use of the hall, including for Singapore Floorball League matches, was suspended until Sept 27 to facilitate repairs.
The repairs have since been completed, and the hall has resumed normal operations.
The Singapore Floorball League has announced that its Premier League season will finally begin at Our Tampines Hub on Oct 3, following the unexpected delay.
The Team Sport Hall is a multi-purpose sports facility at Our Tampines Hub, accommodating competitions including floorball, basketball, volleyball, handball and sepak takraw.
Police investigations into the alleged trespassing remain ongoing.
