A Singaporean teenager, aged 16, has appeared in court on charges of criminal intimidation for allegedly brandishing a knife and directing it towards another individual with the intent to inflict harm.
The incident, which took place on June 9 at around 10:30 pm, unfolded at Block 427 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
As reported by Mothership, court documents indicate that the teenager is presently detained at the Changi Prison Complex Medical Centre for the purpose of undergoing medical assessment.
A TikTok video posted by a witness captures the tense situation, showing the teenager dressed in black walking backward on the road while being approached by a group of police officers.
During the encounter, the teenager paused and engaged in conversation with some of the officers, displaying visible agitation as he raised his arms and repeatedly pointed his fingers at them.
This disruption led to a buildup of traffic, causing buses and other vehicles to come to a standstill as you can see in the video. Across the road, a police officer was observed directing traffic.
Upon the arrival of additional police personnel and a police vehicle, the teenager suddenly sprinted on the road, even running against traffic on the opposite side, despite the traffic light signaling green. Police officers were seen chasing the teenager, who eventually crossed over to the left side of the road in an attempt to evade capture.
Ultimately, the police successfully apprehended the teenager.
If convicted, the teenager could face a maximum sentence of two years’ imprisonment and a fine for each charge of criminal intimidation.
