The Singapore Police have arrested two teens, aged 17 and 18, for their suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon with common intention.
DISPUTE OVER SOCIAL MEDIA POST
According to the press release by Singapore Police Force (SPF), on 4 September 2022 at 9.11pm, the Police responded to a case of fight where two men had allegedly assaulted two other men along King George’s Avenue. After the attack, the two suspects fled the scene before Police arrival.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of the images from Police cameras, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the two men and arrested them within six hours of the incident.
KNIFE ATTACK
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects had allegedly used a knife in the attack which arose from a “dispute over a social media post”. The knife which was purportedly used during the incident was seized, according to police release.
The two men will be charged in court on 6 September 2022 with an offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon with common intention under Section 324 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871.
The offence carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term of up to seven years, a fine, caning, or a combination of such punishments.
