Yishun, Singapore – A 49-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 35-year-old Mr. Fiqri Choo Iskandar, whose lifeless body was discovered at the lift lobby of Block 803 Yishun Ring Road on Saturday morning, July 27.
Affendi Yusoff, a Singaporean, is alleged to have caused Mr. Choo’s death in an incident that reportedly followed a loud argument, according to CNA report.
According to preliminary investigations, the two men were known to each other, though the nature of their relationship has not been disclosed in the charge sheet.
Authorities were alerted to the scene around 8:35 am, where Mr. Choo was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses have indicated that they heard shouting in the vicinity prior to the police’s arrival.
A resident from the 12th floor, who wished to remain anonymous and identified himself as Jerry, recounted hearing the commotion around 8:00 am, initially thinking it was a dispute among his neighbours. He noted the increased police presence when he stepped out to buy breakfast shortly thereafter.
Neighbors revealed that Mr. Choo lived alone in Block 803 and had been under the primary care of his aunt. A sixth-floor resident, familiar with Mr. Choo for over a decade, mentioned that he last saw him in the lift the previous Monday, although they were not particularly close.
The severity of the charge indicates that if convicted, Affendi Yusoff could face the death penalty. The case is set for further mention in court on August 2.
