In an operation conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on the night of September 9, authorities seized drugs valued at an estimated $305,000, leading to the arrest of a 34-year-old Malaysian man suspected of drug trafficking.
According to CNB, the operation took place in the vicinity of Chin Swee Road, where officers apprehended the suspect while he was driving a vehicle.
A subsequent search of the car yielded a staggering haul of narcotics, including approximately 264 grams of methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘Ice’, 1.88 kilograms of heroin, and 3.14 kilograms of cannabis.
“The haul of drugs seized in this operation can feed the addiction of about 1,500 abusers for a week’ CNB said in its press release.
Under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, trafficking in controlled substances carries severe penalties. Anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 15 grams of pure heroin, or 250 grams of methamphetamine, or 500 grams of cannabis may face the mandatory death penalty.
Investigations into the drug activities of the arrested man are currently ongoing.
