Four teens were arrested on Friday (10 May) morning in Sengkang for possessing weapons at an HDB block. Witnesses reported that the boys were loudly confronting each other in the area before the police arrived.
According to a reader who informed Shin Min Daily News, multiple police cars were spotted at the void deck of Block 304A Anchorvale Link around 8am.
Reporters from the Shin Min saw at least four police vehicles near the HDB block and several officers conducting investigations.
Three of the teens were seen sitting on the ground and cooperating with the officers while the fourth teen sat separately with another officer. The boys were taken into one of the police cars around 1pm as officers continued to linger at the scene for a few more hours.
According to the report, witnesses observed three teenage boys of Chinese descent sitting on the ground, calmly answering questions from the police. They appeared unruffled, even chatting and laughing at times. Another teenage boy sat alone on a nearby staircase, with a police officer beside him.
A resident, Mr. Ma, aged 70 and retired, mentioned that he saw police cars rushing past with sirens blaring when he returned to the housing estate in the morning. He noted that the teenagers caused quite a commotion but thankfully, a physical altercation did not break out. The exact reason for the conflict remains unclear, but the incident attracted onlookers from the surrounding area.
The police confirmed that an 18-year-old boy was arrested for possessing a weapon, a 16-year-old was arrested for criminal intimidation, and two others aged 13 and 15 were arrested for also possessing weapons.
Claw knives and e-cigarettes were confiscated by the police at the scene.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
