A temple clerk, Goh Bee Hiang, 58, was charged on Wednesday with two counts of criminal breach of trust for allegedly misappropriating more than S$150,000 in cash donations from devotees.
Goh, who was an administrative clerk at Tampines Chinese Temple located along Tampines Street 21, is accused of taking about S$28,000 in cash donations between September 2018 and December 2018.
She allegedly misappropriated a further S$123,006 between January 2019 and December 2019, totaling approximately S$151,006.
If convicted of committing criminal breach of trust as a clerk or servant, Goh may face a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in jail along with a fine.
The case has been adjourned to May 2 for further proceedings in the State Courts.
