An Indian national, Balasubramanian Ramesh, 73, faces multiple charges of molestation after allegedly targeting four women aboard a Singapore Airlines flight en route from the United States to Singapore on November 18.
According to the report, Ramesh is accused of first molesting a woman at approximately 3:15 AM. He allegedly attacked her three more times before turning his attention to additional victims throughout the morning and afternoon.
The second alleged victim was reportedly molested just five minutes after the first incident, with further encounters occurring between 3:30 AM and 6:00 AM. The third and fourth alleged victims were targeted around 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM, respectively.
Ramesh has been charged with a total of seven counts of molestation. As the identities of the victims are protected under a gag order, it remains unclear whether they were fellow passengers or members of the flight crew.
The accused appeared in district court on November 25, where he was informed of the charges against him. Ramesh is expected to enter a guilty plea during his next court appearance scheduled for December 13.
Under current laws, each count of molestation carries a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment, along with potential fines or caning. However, as Ramesh is over the age of 50, he is exempt from receiving corporal punishment.
