Two teenage girls, aged 14 and 16, were apprehended after they were found sitting on the ledge of a parapet at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital on May 13.
The incident occurred around 9.20pm when the police received a call for assistance at 100 Bukit Timah Road. Officers from the Crisis Negotiation Unit and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the scene.
A video shared by to Stomp by a witness showed the two girls with one leg each over the ledge, swinging their legs. The authorities were quick to react and managed to bring the teenagers down to safety without any reported injuries.
Both teenagers were subsequently apprehended under Section 7 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act for their own safety and well-being.
A spokesperson for the SCDF mentioned that they received a call for assistance around 9.25pm and deployed a safety life pack as a precautionary measure.
Stomper, who witnessed the incident, praised the authorities for their swift response in ensuring the safety of the teenagers.
