An 18-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Mohd Danny Akid Lim, lost his life in a hit-and-run accident that occurred on the morning of September 27 in Loyang.
The Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the accident at approximately 9:20 AM, located at the junction of Loyang Avenue and Cranwell Road.
Paramedics pronounced Mohd Danny dead at the scene.
Eyewitness accounts shared on social media revealed a blue police tent set up along the road, with the young motorcyclist’s vehicle, adorned with a probation plate, lying overturned nearby.
Police investigations are ongoing.
“You ran without a plan. How do you think it’s going to turn out?”
In a heartfelt Facebook post, his aunt, Ela Salim, shared the tragic news of her nephew’s passing and announced his burial details, which took place on September 28. She noted that Mohd Danny was on the brink of graduating with an offshore diploma and had plans for an upcoming offshore trip.
In her emotional tribute, she praised his accomplishments in silat competitions and shared that he was working towards completing his 30 juz in Quran recital alongside his younger brother.
Ela expressed the family’s grief with the poignant reminder that while one can make plans, it is ultimately “GOD’s plans” that prevail. She extended an invitation to the public to attend the burial (held on 28 Sep).
“Lastly, To my fellow Muslims let’s jemaah for his Salah. To my fellow singaporeans it would mean a lot to our family with your attendance” she said in her post.
In a direct message to the driver responsible for the hit-and-run, Ela questioned, “You ran without a plan. How do you think it’s going to turn out?”
She also pleaded with those who had circulated videos related to the incident to refrain from doing so, asking them to respect the family’s sorrow and remember Mohd Danny as a beloved member of their family.
As investigations into the accident continue, the family hopes for justice and the compassionate support of their community as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. They request prayers for Mohd Danny Akid Lim, a young man whose life ended too soon, and whose potential and dreams will now remain unfulfilled.
