The Malaysian AJ Hair Studio, located on Jalan Puteri 7/11 in Bandar Puteri, was in the news for their marketing tactics.
Grand Opening
The salon caught the attention of the authorities after pictures of its hairstylists in revealing clothing went viral on social media.
The saloon held its grand opening ceremony on 2 June with a RM1 haircut promotion.
The saloon was raided by police for showing their marketing stunt.
WHAT HAPPENED
In a Facebook post, the salon shared photos of its first day of business. One of the photos shows a white Ferrari with two women leaning on the luxury car, while other photos show the salon receiving many flower stands.
The salon is run by Thai-speaking Jeyn, who is the Puchong branch director of AJ Hair Studio. Jeyn can be seen busy serving the first batch of customers at the premises in the photos.
Photos of the models serving customers at AJ Hair Studio have since been deleted from its timeline.
“Our shop [doesn’t] have special services!” the salon clarified in a Facebook update yesterday.
“[Whoever asks] my shop again, I will screenshot and report [it to the] police.”It noted that the “picture is for funny only”.
“Our shop is just a normal hair studio. Don’t take my model pictures and share to other groups again and edit the caption (to say that) our shop has special services,” it wrote last night.
“The models [are] just our grand opening models. Don’t think too much, please. Have a nice day guys!”
In its latest Facebook post today, 8 June, AJ Hair Studio announced that it will broadcast a livestream to clarify everything that has happened over the past few days.
“Thanks for [the] support and those who share the news,” it wrote.
FML reported, Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) enforcement officers found that the salon had no valid licence to operate.
“Following that, MBSJ issued two compounds for operating a beauty and health centre without a licence and showing advertisements without a licence,” MBSJ said in a statement.
After the controversial pictures were widely circulated on social media, the salon filed a police report to clarify that “the pictures were taken for promotional purposes and the salon was not a massage joint”.
A copy of the police report was uploaded on its Facebook page. The post explained that the hairstylists in the pictures were actually models hired for the grand opening event at the premises and that there were no “special services” being offered to customers.
