In a recent incident along East Coast Road, a female cyclist was caught on camera engaging in a confrontation with a driver, which eventually led to her jumping onto the bonnet of the car. The incident occurred last Friday, June 2, and was reported to the police, who are now investigating it as a case of rash act. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the altercation.
Following queries from media, the police confirmed that they received a distress call along 112 East Coast Road at approximately 3:20 pm on Friday. While the exact circumstances leading up to the confrontation remain unclear, a video circulating on various social media platforms showed a cyclist, identified by her blue helmet and yellow shirt, standing in front of a dark grey car.
The situation appeared to cause disruption to the flow of traffic, with other vehicles audibly honking their horns as the cyclist and the car blocked the middle lane of the road. At one point, the cyclist was seen speaking on her phone before unexpectedly jumping onto the car’s bonnet.
The car then accelerated in the direction of i12 Katong Mall, with the cyclist clinging to the bonnet as it crossed a junction. Throughout the video, the cyclist could be heard shouting as the car drove off. The outcome of the confrontation and the subsequent events remain unknown.
The police have stated that two women, aged 31 and 49, are currently cooperating with the ongoing investigations. Their involvement and statements will contribute to a better understanding of the incident and help authorities determine the appropriate course of action.
Despite the dramatic nature of the confrontation, it is fortunate that no injuries were sustained by either party involved. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for peaceful resolutions to conflicts on the road.
As the investigation progresses, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation on East Coast Road.
