A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer, 44, has been charged with five counts of voyeurism after he allegedly recorded a woman without her consent while she was changing clothes in a Housing Board flat.
The incidents reportedly occurred over a span of several weeks, from March 26 to April 7, 2024.
The officer, whose identity is protected under a gag order to safeguard the victim, was formally charged on April 8, according to ST.
According to the SCDF, the officer is currently suspended on half-pay and is employed in a non-front-line role.
An SCDF spokesperson stated, “(We take) a serious view of this matter. We expect all our officers to uphold exemplary standards of professionalism, conduct and discipline at all times.”
The spokesperson emphasized that officers found guilty of criminal offenses by the courts would face public service disciplinary action, which could include dismissal from service.
The officer’s case is set to be mentioned again in court on May 6. Under Singapore law, a person convicted of voyeurism can face a maximum penalty of two years in prison, fines, caning, or a combination of these punishments.
