Singapore Father Charged with Molestation of 9-Year-Old Son in Canberra

A 48-year-old Singaporean man was charged in court on Monday, December 15, 2025, for allegedly molesting his nine-year-old son while the boy was asleep in their Housing Board (HDB) flat in the Canberra area near Sembawang.

The accused, who cannot be named due to a strict gag order imposed to protect the child’s identity, faces a charge of outrage of modesty, according to ST.

Details of the Allegation

Court documents state that the alleged offence took place in November 2025. The father is accused of using his hand to rub his son’s private parts while the boy was sleeping in the master bedroom of their residence.

The charge sheets seen by the press did not disclose how the alleged incident was brought to light or how the offence came to the attention of the authorities.

The man was formally charged on December 15. His case is scheduled for a subsequent mention in court on December 29, 2025.

The offence, molesting a child below the age of 14 years, carries severe penalties under Singapore law.

A convicted offender is liable to: Imprisonment for a term of up to five years.

  • A fine.
  • Caning.
  • Any combination of the above punishments.

The gag order remains in effect to safeguard the nine-year-old victim’s privacy throughout the legal proceedings.
