A man who underwent reformative training in 2019 has been jailed for two years and three months after ordering cannabis from Britain via Telegram.
According to ST, Anton Andrievsky, 28, an American citizen and Singapore permanent resident, pleaded guilty on Sept 16 to one count of attempted drug possession.
The court heard that Andrievsky had ordered about 140g of cannabis from a person known as “Yaz”, intending to pay $2,500 for the drugs. He told authorities that the cannabis was for his personal consumption and said he had made similar orders on about three other occasions.
The parcel was sent from Britain and intercepted at SingPost Centre along Eunos Road on Sept 30, 2025, before it could be delivered to Andrievsky’s home in Toa Payoh.
An Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer conducting screening at the parcel post section noticed anomalies in the parcel’s X-ray images.
Although the parcel was addressed to Andrievsky’s home, the previous owner of the flat was listed as the recipient.
Authorities inspected the package and found a pair of jeans along with about 136g of vegetable matter, which was later identified as cannabis.
The case was referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.
CNB officers went to Andrievsky’s home at about 2.30pm that day. They identified themselves and knocked on the door, but no one answered.
Andrievsky, who was alone inside the flat, panicked and texted his then-girlfriend.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Jonathan Tan told the court that officers detected movement inside the unit and repeatedly instructed Andrievsky to open the door, the report added.
He refused to comply, prompting the officers to use force to enter the flat and arrest him.
During investigations, Andrievsky said he had used the previous owner’s details for the transaction because he did not want to use his own particulars.
He could not provide authorities with details about Yaz. When asked to show his correspondence with the alleged supplier, he claimed he could not do so because he had forgotten his password.
The court also heard that Andrievsky had undergone reformative training in 2019.
Reformative training is a structured rehabilitation programme for young offenders that involves detention and a strict regimen that can include physical training, foot drills and counselling.
Andrievsky was sentenced to two years and three months’ imprisonment on Sept 16, 2026, after pleading guilty to the attempted possession charge.
