WHAT HAPPENED AT CARPARK
On June 29, 2024, at approximately 2:13 a.m., a man named Wu Yongsheng, a 50-year-old engineer, went to the multi-storey car park at Block 278 Compassvale Bow in Sengkang after failing to contact his wife.
There, he was shocked to discover her in a car with her lover, Eugene Chia Hiok Seah, both fully nude. Wu, who knew Chia as a friend of his wife, recognized the license plate of the car and decided to record a video as evidence, according to Zaobao.
Approaching the vehicle, he attempted to open the door but was unsuccessful. Wu then demanded the couple to exit the vehicle.
Chia, the driver, attempted to drive away, ignoring Wu’s requests. Wu responded by climbing onto the hood of the car to block its movement.
Chia, aged 50, did not heed Wu’s warning and continued to step on the accelerator. Wu lost his balance and fell onto the ground, suffering multiple injuries including abrasions on his face, hands, knees, and chest. He was taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery and was prescribed 14 days of sick leave.
As per the report, Wu filed a police report after he was hospitalised. When questioned by the prosecution why he did not call the police immediately, Wu said he wanted to save himself because of serious injury, so he called an ambulance first.
Wu also took photographs of his injuries, which he submitted as evidence.
The incident resulted in Chia facing two charges in court: one for reckless behavior causing injury and another for public indecency, which he pleaded guilty to. He did not contest the charge related to public nudity but pleaded not guilty to the reckless driving causing injury.
During the court proceedings on July 1, 2025, Wu testified about his observations and injuries. He revealed that he was concerned about his wife’s whereabouts, which led him to the parking lot.
Wu confirmed that he knew Chia and had previously been involved in transporting his wife home. His testimony detailed the sequence of events leading to his fall and injuries.
Chia, the accused, faces trial for the reckless behavior and public nudity.
