A former television personality has been charged in a district court on January 24 for a series of alleged offenses, including harassment and performing sexual acts on a minor.
According to The Straits Times, the man faces six counts of sexually penetrating an underage girl, along with one count each of harassment and obstructing the course of justice.
DETAILS OF THE CASE
Due to a gag order aimed at protecting the identity of at least one of the alleged victims who was in a relationship with him at the time, specific details about the man—including his age, nationality, ethnicity, the television shows he appeared in, and the locations of the alleged offences—cannot be disclosed.
Court documents reveal that the man allegedly engaged in sexual activities with at least one 15-year-old girl on six separate occasions in June 2024, purportedly at his home, a luxury hotel, and a hospital.
He faces accusations of participating in sexual activities with a minor on five says in June 2024, according to another news report by Channel News Asia.
The specifics of whether all charges relate to the same alleged victim remain unclear, as those details have been redacted, according to ST.
In addition to the sexual charges, the man is accused of obstructing justice in August 2024 by allegedly instructing an alleged victim to “cry in front of her mother”, urging her to tell the woman that she did not want him to go to jail and not to press charges against him.
Furthermore, he is also accused of stalking a separate individual by calling her 18 times in a single day on September 22, 2024.
He reportedly sent her a WhatsApp message and accessed her virtual room on a karaoke app on two separate occasions.
The man has yet to indicate whether he will plead guilty or contest the charges in court. He has been granted time to seek legal representation, and his case is scheduled for another mention on February 20.
The penalties for the charges he faces are severe.
If convicted of sexually penetrating a minor, the man could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine, or both. Obstructing justice may result in a sentence of up to seven years, while the offense of stalking that causes harassment carries a potential penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to S$5,000.
Currently, he remains out on bail set at S$20,000 (US$15,000).
